It's good to hear about your new car Doug. It's amazing how technology can help us to 'adapt and conquer' (Ellie's motto).

Wouldn't it be good if all cars could automatically conquer traffic jams ... but it would probably take a humdinger of a vehicle to do that! ....

    Happy automatic motoring!

    Love
    Kayleigh

P.S It's good your car has got an emergency call out feature - but of course I hope you stay safe! .... and although I believe that laughter is the best medicine, I'd rather not have to go into hospital to get it - as the last time I was at my local hospital, there was a right carry-on going on ... LOL...

      Hi Doug

Congrats, and good luck with your new car, I hope you will be driving it for a very long time

I know you what you mean about trying to figure out all the technology in it. I recently bought a new car as well and I call the dashboard the cockpit its got so many buttons to press, digital stuff, computer stuff I can't figure it all out !

The worst part is the car is always yelling at me ! Bells go off things start dinging telling me "keep your eyes on the road', 'Lane departure' Terry told me I can turn those features off, but I don't know how ???? LOL

      All the best with it

          Congratulations, Doug!

Oh, the excitement of a new car! I loved driving and the freedom and independence it gave me. I also rather liked rubbing men’s noses in the dirt when they assumed I was *just* a woman driver!

Alas, those days have gone - definitely not a good thing.

Perhaps you could take me for a spin in your new wheels so that I can get a vicarious thrill from it. Whaddaya think, Doug? Is it a date?

            Hello Doug and Dina,

Cars have become much more sophisticated since I learnt to drive (and perhaps my dangling set of pink furry dice have gone out of fashion/become vintage in-care accessories by now?? LOL).

Do you remember the good old days when cars were much cheaper to run and much simpler to operate?? ...

My favourite car is Penelope Pitstop's (and I see it's been updated since I last saw it in the 1970's Wacky Races - but where has the lipstick holder gone? LOL ) ..

I can imagine Dina shaking her bootie and driving Doug round the bend, while driving this cute carla:-

.. and Doug having fun but finally driving Dina up the wall, while driving Fin:-

And, of course with Barry's love of all things Italian, he would drive all the girls wild, reving his engine in this racy number! ..

Sorry I can't continue with this carnival of car cartoons - as its time for me to carefully carry myself away to bed.

Good night and take care everyone,

                    Hi Kayleigh and everyone

Thank you for your kind responses about my new car. I don’t want to go on about it, but I am amazed at the technological advances in just three years in a similar make and model – and we’re not talking Aston Martin here.

You’re right Kayleigh, I can remember when cars were much simpler. My split windscreen Morris Minor had mechanical semaphore indicators and the shortest service interval was 500 miles!

It will take me all weekend to read the manual. But amongst the myriad things this vehicle monitors and, as cc rightly says, wants to tell me about, I have not yet found the naughtiness detector. So, OK daring Dina, if you fancy some turbocharged thrills in the fast lane you’re welcome to come, but no stilettos on the dashboard please.

                    Doug x

Ha ha ha, Kayleigh. I’m afraid I wouldn’t even shake my bootie for the Milk Tray man in a green car. But I might consider it in this “grown ups’ sports car”...

Mr. Carpenter, I don’t know what you mean! **tries, and spectacularly fails, to look innocent ** And, anyway, if the car is green, I’m not interested.

                        Hi Dina,

If the 'Greens' win the Election, I think you might find that they will make it PC for all cars to be as green as green Carla.

In fact (allegedly), their spokesperson is green with envy that I offered Carla to you - especially as Carla is 100% bootie-powered (with 0% harmful emissions).

Carla's racing green crudentials mean that she would never turn the air into a pea-souper. She only ever gently emits the most organic of aromas from her exhaust-free bumper. Her fragrance is always as sweet as peas and she never spouts it out like pungent sprouts. Her perfume is always freshly produced (rather than being eau-de-rotten cabbage water).

Carla's iron engine is as strong as spinach and it goes as fast as 2 runner beans in a pod. She is a muscle car that even Popeye would be proud to flex his muscles in.

The sound of her engine is as clean as Greensleeves and her fresh green upholstery is never stained by grass.

Carla's bodywork is as refined as petit pois. The design of her decorative greenery is always locally sourced and is as seasonal as asparagus.

Overall, anyone who knows their onions would realise that Carla is the cream of the crop - and although some gardeners might say she isn't green fingered enough, she has already been most highly greengaged as the Green Goddess of green motoring!

Indeed, Carla is the bees-knees of bootie prizes (rather than the big boobie prize that some red hot-rod racing drivers are making her out to be). LOL

You might have had your head turned by a car that isn't green but Carla says please remember that the grass is not always greener on the other side! LOL

Sending you handfuls of haricot-verts hugs, green cabbages of kisses, and broccoli flowers of very best wishes.

                            Doug babe, That's great news!!

Soon after my diagnosis, my husband and I swapped cars - I got his fancy automatic and he got my little runaround, complete with rice cake crumbs and bits of toys hidden down the backs of seats (children's toys, I hasten to add!!)

We now have an EV (electric vehicle) and it knows everything - it knows when it's at 'home' and tells us what time to plug it in to recharge, as opposed to knowing it's a a fast charge point. And it's apparently so easy to drive.

                            Wishing you safe driving.

                            Love Ellie.

And yet, despite all that, Carla is still revoltingly green!

I’m afraid that 9 1/2 weeks trapped in a ward that had so much green even the awful “privacy” stickers on the windows were just pictures of La La Land devoid of teletubbies, has made me hate green even more!

More to celebrate! Hubby recovering well from op, sons doing brilliantly. Then I break a tooth! Dentists went over and beyond to accommodate me in the wheelchair. The root was painlessly extracted, then an impression was taken We went home and two hours later collected the denture with new tooth added!!! Admittedly I'm on a dental plan (not NHS) but this was exceptional treatment. The worst part was having to park by the nearest dropped kerb which seemed like miles away over a very very uneven pavement. I'm a happy bunny!
