Hi Ellie, I also have trouble with the teeth clenching and cheek biting too, with the sneezing I usually try and move my tongue up towards the roof of my mouth but unfortunately I was eating at the time, I’ve been looking to get a gum shield so I might give that a go thank you Janette x

Unfortunately tongue and cheek biting is very common for us Janette

If you can, try to clench your teeth firmly shut just before you sneeze - I have about a 50% success rate doing this but I do think it lessens the severity of the other 50% of times, as my mouth doesn't open so wide!

And when your tongue is sore, try Bonjela and, if safe to do so, suck a vitamin C to help healing and for general oral health. (I put 1/4 of an effervescent tablet on my tongue 2x day)

In bed I wear a custom made gum shield so have respite from any night time sneezing or teeth clenching! It wouldn't be practical for me to wear it 24/7. My dentist made it and the initial fitting did need for an impression to be taken but I was given the mould, so when I recently replaced it, it was just a matter of giving the mould to the dentist and 15mins later, a gleaming new gum shield! You could try a shop bought one.

    Best of luck.

    Love Ellie.
