Well the eye can do it too so you need to look into it. I bet you can get one for free, there is at least one advantage of being terminally ill 😊😊x
Bulbar started Jan 2020. Mute and 100% tube fed but mobile and undefeated. Stay Strong 🤗😘🤗😁xx

I read of a lot of technologies that you all use but my husband hasn’t really tried anything. He has gone from spending hours on his phone to not using it. The only thing he does now is watch tv from when he gets up to when he goes to bed. This is a man who couldn’t sit still even on a beach holiday little more than a year ago. Very saddening to me.
Hi Bexxy, not sure about the no arms. I guess you have to use eye gaze technology then. Maybe you could ask your team about that.

I am using Speakunique which has the repair function which costs £250 and you can download the app for free to use with your recorded voice.
In my case the cost was funded by MNDA.
My voice is slowly deteriorating so happy I have banked my voice before it gets too bad.
With the software you can create your own phrases and words that you more commonly use. These are stored for you to select rather than typing them.
            Hope this helps.

            Hi Kevin,

            What is a repair function?

There are several options dependent on the quality of your voice. One of the options is the repair option. You record your voice speaking 300 phrases that are pre entered. When you have recorded the phrases they use some software to smooth out the pauses and slurring. 5 options are sent to you with varying level of repair. From this you can select which of the options you think is the best for you. Speakunique were very helpful and emailed me the voice options for me to send to family and friends to select which option sounds like my original voice. The only thing the could not replicate was the accent/ expression on certain words. But in my case it couldn't as my voice was already affected to mainly one tone. You do not have to pay or accept the voices produced until you select the option to you want to use in the app. This allows you to try other speech software if you are not happy.

              Hope this helps.

              Kevin

Have a look at the thread I started in Equipment and Technology sub-forum. They also do voice build for people who have lost their voice through sudden illness like a stroke or cancer, and not had a chance to record it.
