Have a look at the thread I started in Equipment and Technology sub-forum. They also do voice build for people who have lost their voice through sudden illness like a stroke or cancer, and not had a chance to record it.

There are several options dependent on the quality of your voice. One of the options is the repair option. You record your voice speaking 300 phrases that are pre entered. When you have recorded the phrases they use some software to smooth out the pauses and slurring. 5 options are sent to you with varying level of repair. From this you can select which of the options you think is the best for you. Speakunique were very helpful and emailed me the voice options for me to send to family and friends to select which option sounds like my original voice. The only thing the could not replicate was the accent/ expression on certain words. But in my case it couldn't as my voice was already affected to mainly one tone. You do not have to pay or accept the voices produced until you select the option to you want to use in the app. This allows you to try other speech software if you are not happy.

    Hope this helps.

    Kevin

I am using Speakunique which has the repair function which costs £250 and you can download the app for free to use with your recorded voice.
In my case the cost was funded by MNDA.
My voice is slowly deteriorating so happy I have banked my voice before it gets too bad.
With the software you can create your own phrases and words that you more commonly use. These are stored for you to select rather than typing them.
    Hope this helps.

I read of a lot of technologies that you all use but my husband hasn’t really tried anything. He has gone from spending hours on his phone to not using it. The only thing he does now is watch tv from when he gets up to when he goes to bed. This is a man who couldn’t sit still even on a beach holiday little more than a year ago. Very saddening to me.
Hi Bexxy, not sure about the no arms. I guess you have to use eye gaze technology then. Maybe you could ask your team about that.

Well the eye can do it too so you need to look into it. I bet you can get one for free, there is at least one advantage of being terminally ill 😊😊x

Why doesn't that surprise me . Am I right that you need to use the app by at least a finger?

    Oh Bexxy
My heart breaks for you both. My husband can still use his hands so I think it's being able to use a finger at least. Though saying that my son is bringing it out to us in Portugal because it's not available here to download. I know Matthew has just got it so we shall wait to hear what he's been up to. My husband loves his music and singing along 😐 but at least he's happy xxxx

My partner has PBP and we have done the following:

We started with voice banking and used Model talker and Predictable. Not very effective and Predictable was £159. We then started using the free Apps and they were OK. We have recently been using Speech Assist which is the best we can come up with at the moment and we use a blue tooth speaker. The great thing about Speech Assist is that it has a bank of commonly used phrases that you can add to and a loud bell which tells everyone to stop and listen. It's the best we have found so far and works better on an IPAd. It costs £14.99 . We are constantly reviewing and looking for better stuff.

My friend faces same problem. He used to solve his problem in his work by sending messages and online chat through his smartphone to the clients rather than by his voice

I’ve been unable to speak for ages (before voice banking) and have tried many speech apps. Now I’m using Speech Assistant which is fantastic, brilliant andbetter than any others. Thoroughly recommend it. It’s easy to save phrases and simple to use. (I’m not on commission!!!)
