    End of an era

Well today I have decided not to carry on working in the near future. The trip in to see the nurse convinced me and coupled with facing working all day with food I can no longer eat made my mind up for me.
Retired early just like I always wanted just not like this.

End of an era indeed - hopefully you'll come to realise it was the right decision and, hey, look at all the time you'll get to spend hanging out with your Band of Brothers ๐Ÿ˜„

Have you any hobbies or interests you can spend time doing over the coming months to provide some distraction?

    Love Ellie.

I have had plenty of training on furlough so I'm not bothered by that. The only thing I will miss are my colleagues.

Would you feel comfortable meeting one or two of them for a pint or them visiting you at home?

I want to say 'Happy Retirement Matthew' but I know this is not how you would have wanted to retire.
You should definately try and keep in touch with some colleagues, it's the people interactions that will keep you going and you can be the one laughing when they tell you it's chaos in the workplace!

Matthew whenever I read something you write it feels heartfelt, sincere, brave , straightforward and always makes me smile .
I know how hard this is. I share my days w Fritz. I think you both would be great friends. He was always active but faces this w courage and looks forward not backward. Some friends he doesnโ€™t see anymore and I am surprised which ones have stuck by him. The kind of man I imagine you are, you wonโ€™t be alone. Every single wonderful person here loves you and depends on your words.

                          Matthew good luck in retirement.

My husband is a bit bemused with what I call medical retirement, he is only 56.

Due to fatigue, sporadic self employment and Lockdown, whilst we looked for what up with him.

That he is retired, I don't think has sunk in.

Due to arm/hand onset all his hobbies are lost.

Except, TV, music and we have just bought a book rest so he can read some physical books we hope.

Thanks everyone for your support and advice, cannot believe we have only about MND for less than 2 months

Happy retirement Matthew x I feel your pain x I continued travelling to London for a year after diagnosis and it was becoming harder and harder, the train staff even had to help me on the train each day .... as much as I donโ€™t want to be at home itโ€™s much better than the struggles traveling x enjoy the things you can do x all the best x
