Thanks Ellie, I will look at that one. I take your point about the space issue.

    Hi Guy,

I had a Freeway T80 reclining shower/commode chair given to me by my OT and found it good - I particularly liked the upper body and neck support. They come in different widths, which is great for those of us slender ladies, and there are various modular options available. There are other brands available.

One issue these ‘tilt-in-space’ chairs have is, because they do tilt, their wheelbase is longer than regular chairs and this might mean they don’t go back fully over the loo, so check measurements.

Do try your wife’s OT first - I was horrified to see how much they cost when I searched for it!! This is the link, scroll down and watch the video, it gives an idea of what to look for in a tilt-in-space chair.

    Shower/Commode Chairs

My wife has been supplied by our OT with a standard shower/commode chair that she finds very uncomfortable. It seems to be made for a person with a larger backside and one buttock or another seems to settle into the hole in the seat. The strain of trying to stay upright also puts extra stress on her neck muscles now. We think maybe something that tilts with a head brace would be more comfortable, but her back will need supporting too.

I know everyone's experience and stage are different, but has anyone got a shower commode chair they would recommend?
