Anybody else have trouble walking with a full shoe on? During lockdown I’ve been wearing slip on sandals and walk reasonably well in them if I take my time, but today had to go out for my flu jab and put shoes on as it was raining, but ended up nearly falling a few times also happens when I wear slippers, I mustn’t be able to grip like I do in the sandals 🤷♀️ Janette x

Hi nettie
no one else answered so I just thought I wouldI always find when I haven't had shoes on for a while that they feel odd. Shoes that fit really well in the spring seem to have changed. After wearing them a few times they seem to go back to how they used to be. Perhaps wear them indoors and hope they behave themselves. I do have a problem with my little toe. I think it's called a hammer toe. It's awkward wearing some sandals or shoes. Something so minor really alters how my shoe stays on my foot. Shoes i loved to wear no longer get an outing. I now find i wear boots. Easier to get on and off and they stay in place and don't trip me up. I just thought I would share that with you. Funny about the slippers but suppose they can get a bit loose and could really be a bit of a falling hazard. 🤗
when i can think of something profound i will update this.

What on earth are you going to be wearing if you can't stand socks?! Come to think of it I'm trying to get Stephen into wearing trainers/Shoes but he's very keen to stick to his slip on sandals. I shall question him and find out more. Perhaps you two are a match! 😁when i can think of something profound i will update this.

Janette, you'll be the mad lady wearing sandals in mid-winter 🥶 😁
Yes, I think it's to do with gripping on with your toes. Have you a physiotherapist you can contact? They can assess you and give you braces or splints if necessary.
Stay upright!

Hi Janette,
Finding comfortable shoes or socks is so tricky. When I was still walking I wore sandals or sketchers trainers because they are so light. I had trouble lifting my feet so I needed something that wasn't heavy. I also had velcro " foot ups " recommended by my physio to help lift my feet.
Now I still find finding shoes impossible because of my super curly and painful toes. I look like Ellie's definition of a mad woman because I ordered packs of seamless socks in bright colours. I used to be forever buying shoes so hubby is happy at the money we've saved ! 😂 🥿
Good Luck tomorrow with your physio.
Love Debbie x

I've been wearing the same pair of hiking boots for 5yrs now, just cannot find any others which give such good ankle support.
I do take them off when sunbathing so as not to appear more eccentric than I am 😁😁 but they're worn every day for transfers - perfect soles, never been walked in 😆Diagnosed 03/2007. Sporadic Definite ALS/MND Spinal (hand) Onset.
