I'm considering going into a funeral services and organized and paying for my own funeral. Has anyone else done this? 😊

My parents have their funerals all paid for and sorted, except for the dates, obvs!!

I don't think it's an unusual thing to do when you get to a certain age or if you're at a certain life-stage, nor is it macabre.

I haven't paid out any money - don't have any - hoping the husband will do that πŸ˜†

Hi Matthew. Yes, I've recently organised and paid for a simple cremation( no fancy service) . I felt I needed to arrange it as I am leaving brain and spinal tissue for MND research at Sheffield University, and needed to know the funeral director would transport my body to and from there prior to cremation. Sounds morbid, but I'm glad it's arranged and I don't have to consider it any further. x 😏

Oh Graham what a horrible video! I've not got round to exploring leaving brain and spinal cord for research, how do you go about this?

Hi Heather. I arranged to leave tissue through dept of Neuroscience at Sheffield Uni ( SITraN ) where they are doing research into MND and other Neurological conditions. I know there are other similar centres across the country so it may depend on where you live. x 😊

Matthew said he was going but didn't say if he had. Perhaps they'll give you a taster πŸ˜„πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜πŸ˜‰

Hiya, my husband has arranged his own funeral and done a pre-payment plan with our local funeral director. At least I know what he wants/doesn't want and to be honest my mum arranged a pre-payment plan and died unexpectedly early 2019. From a bereaved perspective, it took a lot of heartache and arranging out of the equation as everything but flowers had been sorted.
