    Abdominal muscle cramps

    May I ask --

Does anyone have knowledge or experience of tension and cramp in abdominal muscles, and of any drugs to ease them?

    Many thanks!

Stephen has complained quite a few times. This is someone who could eat a lot and quickly without any problems but now he suffers. I just give him a hot water bottle and painkillers. He never had stomach problems before. I have no idea if it's part of mnd. I've also never known him to be fussed about food but now there is a look of I'm not sure I want that! ๐Ÿ˜

Thanks Denise. I'm sure heat will help.

I get cramps in central and side abdo muscles, Doug, but usually following a period of exertion - I use that term loosely, as these days a yawn or an involuntary stretch counts as exertion for me ๐Ÿ˜„) - and it's transient in nature, so I don't need to (can't) do much. Bear in mind though that I need to have Baclofen in my system 24/7, as my muscle tone is ridiculously high in most of my body.

To relax the muscles you can try heat, massage (with magnesium oil is even better), magnesium supplements (careful, some forms have a laxative effect) or CBD oil - different things work for different folk.

On the bright side, you may get that ripped six-pack you've always wanted ๐Ÿ˜‚

          Hi Doug,

Hope you're feeling better after your fall and your vertigo is better.

I too get tummy cramps sometimes when I transfer chairs. I have daily blood thinning injections in my tummy so my tummy is often sore which doesn't help. I use a magnesium spray . The cramp doesn't last long but it really hurts.

I also often have an upset tummy... very stressful when you have no mobility. The MND team said it wasn't typical so I had tests to rule out other things. I am not convinced its not related because it started the same as my MND symptoms. I am fortunate to be able to eat normally but I have really restricted my diet so no gluten, eggs or additives. Everything is cooked from scratch by my super chef ( I am very good at supervising !) This seems to have really helped.

MND is so complex that i find it hard to know what's related to it sometimes.
Take Care and hugs to you,
          Love Debbie x
