Update on through floor lift installation

Just to update anyone thinking about a through floor lift. .I have now had mine installed. I went for a refurbished supply and fit Terry's Harmony lift which is wider and longer than a standard lift .I went for the larger lift as the hospice OT said I may need various size wheelchairs as MND progresses. The quotes I had for new lifts was £14-15000.So was thrilled to get mine supplied and fitting for £6.500. I can still use my stairlift but know I will soon need to be transported upstairs in the wheelchair so lift installed ready. Today work commenced the wet room so wanted that in place for when I need it. Trying to get organised with practical stuff. My husband suggested the builders carry their materials in the lift upstairs so its come in handy already. It might be worth researching refurbished lifts supplied and fitted as opposed to costly new lifts.Best Wishes Mary

Does it take up a lot of room?

Yes it’s quite large but it’s on 2 poles which stand about 2 Poles from the wall.when not in use I send it up to the bedroom .Downstairs it comes into the dining room which is big enough to have a sis seater table as well as the lift.If you look on Terrys lift website you can contact them for dimensions.There are smaller options but Hospice OT suggested this model in case as I said aS time goes on I might need to lie back in a wheelchair for example.The chap,I used fits 2 nd hand lifts all over the country.Best wishes Mary

You're really getting on with things, Mary. I am still waiting to see if my move to a bungalow is going to go through or fall through, very frustrating. If I have to stay in my terraced house, will need a lift like yours, so good to hear about yours. x
