Back in the day I was trained in first aid by The Red Cross and St John's Ambulance, both said that it is the last resort even if you know what you're doing. 😁x

Our MND consultant told my wife (who is a retired midwife ) to use the Heimlich manoeuvre if I was choking, Ellie. He did say it could lead to inhalation of some material and aspiration pneumonia, but that was better than choking to death. Great bedside manner!

Thanks to Ellie for post on nasal regurgitation. My family know that I would resist the heimlich manoeuvre as normally I can cough up food that sticks in my throat.
I’m going to do this even if it kills me!

          Hi Barry,

It's MND related. Bulbar related due to the mouth muscles slowing. I insist on quietness while I am eating and I always watch the news when eating. Watching something funny is a recipe for disaster. I must concentrate or else there is a price to pay.

Guy Thanks Robin, nice to hear from you.

The lesser of two evils seems to be the theme 😏

            Love Ellie.
