We have Direct Payments and have always had private PA who I have found on the Local County Council website. We have had to check references etc but that's not difficult. We have had one carer full days but you can organise your money and the carers however suits you xx I hope that helps you x thanks Sarah x

Yes, agencies are bad news for people who have MND, they only cater for basic care needs. Demand Direct Payments from your council and try Indeed for recruiting disgruntled care workers.

Hi Ben,

I found a great private care company called Home Instead. They operate nationwide as a franchise and follow strict guidelines. I chose them for my mother and I will use them myself when the time comes. Not as cheap as agency but as they say, “you get what you pay for”.

We are with our third agency. They are just ruthless but unfortunately always provide someone. We want to get a team of private carers but just can't find anyone. Need about 8. How do people do it here
