    Light Switches

    Light switches
I have been unable for some time to reach these with my right arm and my left arm is within weeks of the same fate .
What solutions have others put into place to solve this issue?

    Hi Tony,

If you use Alexa then there’s a light switch unit that can be turned on and off with her command. Search auto light switch or accessible light switch.
I’m going to do this even if it kills me!

If you don’t or can’t use smart speaker functionality you can get a hive installed. This will allow you to control lights, heating and more via an app. Search Hive.

Thanks Bowler and Barry For those suggestions.
This is very early days in the investigation but my initial thoughts are:
Using Alexa - how many Alexa units are required? I can't imagine shouting from one end of the house to the other!
I checked out the Hive website now understand how it works but the lamps they provide all seem to be screw type orLED no traditional Bayonet Caps
        I'll keep investigating
        Thanks
        Tony

If you have an Alexa system.

          The bad news.
My son bought us a couple of the Alexa type switches for Christmas.
Something to remember though, the switches need a Neutral cable, something that is not usually found in a light switch as the switch usually just interupts a live feed.
The other problem can be the depth of the back box behind the switch. As an electrician I had fitted our bedroom light switch with a neutral cable for a dimmer switch, but when we came to fit the Alexa switch, the back box was not deep enough to accept the gubbins on the back of the switch.

          The good news.
There are Alexa bulbs that are direct replacements for your existing ones, and work very well in your Alexa system.
We have them and also Alexa socket conversions which allow table lamps to be turned on and off with just a few words.

Tony, I have an Alexa unit in every room apart from the bathroom, but one unit will work all of your set ups.
It allows me to "drop in" on other rooms to pass on messages to er indoors, if I have need of her assistance.
Alexa units allow you to make phone calls or send messages verbally, ideal if you have a fall and cannot get up.
