Settlement of mortgage

I guess yes, I was told that too when I took mortgage. Shortly, when I took a mortgage at Mortgage Advice Newcastle, I took it for 15 years but I closed it luckily in 4 years because they had a really good mortgage conditions so I could pay partly each month and close it something like in 30-35 months. But before they allowed me to take mortgage, I was asked such questions like: do you have any illnesses, do you have some relatives, how much your salary is, etc. because they do really care If you'll be able to pay off that mortgage.

Yes Beemer - check your policy.............I checked mine which had critical illness BUT it meant my husband had to expire within 12 months of a diagnosis, so meanwhile he's still here nearly two years since, has never had a proper diagnosis and the term ended last year - so paid for 20 years into the insurance for NOWT!!!! - win some lose some!

Beemer Yes, as Gary said, but only if you have insurance linked to the mortgage specifying critical illness (or whatever) and fall within the policy definitions, so definitely check.

I had my mortgage paid off - every cloud...

Might depend on whether you have life insurance on the mortgage.

Well I got a pension pot tax free after my GP confirmed that I have a terminal illness. 😁x
