Hi Ben. Sorry that you've had to join us on this scary journey. I'm not writing a book but thinking of doing a journal to let my family read later. I have had spells every now and then of keeping a journal but I destroyed all of my old ones a year or so ago. Good luck with writing your book. Lynne
ALS diagnosed November 2017, limb onset. For the 4 yrs previously I was losing my balance.

I'm staying positive and taking each day as it comes.

Yes I have. I was lucky enough to be offered help with it through weldmars art therapy. I really enjoyed doing it. I did my memories and started right at the beginning with my parents then through to current day and my journey into life with mnd.

I have been keeping a journal since I had a stroke 20 years ago. I find it very therapeutic in helping to organize my thoughts.

I have also written two novels.

Steve has written his family story and written poems about his thoughts and feelings on this journey. It helps him to get it all out of his head.

Started writing poetry and memoirs a couple of years ago. I'm a mentor of students research groups and lecturer at The University Health Center Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, so I'm planning to use some examples from my memoirs and and personal essays in a new medical training course. Not sure if poems will be appropriate here, but perhaps, I could use those as an illustration how we can support people affected by MND.

It was my first poem years back:
                    A wheelchair,
My daughter is sipping the water,
I know what she's thinking about...
                    Her diamonds've been scattered around.
                    The glass,
It's fragile like her little arms,
I read her stories, she wouldn't mind.
It's only hope that is not left behind.
