I think we all have pretty stressful lives with mnd, and a panic attack can be triggered much more easily if the general anxiety levels are high. Anxiety is carried in the body as it tenses up. Relaxation exercises, meditation any good?? Give the tense muscles a stretch out ?? x

Yes Beemer I thought you hadn't been around.

I had a panic attack on Monday. I was trying to figure out where to park, where to leave Stephen in the wheelchair. What time to leave for the hospital. I just sat down and couldn't move. I felt really anxious. I was shaking. There's only me so I just had to get on with it.

Get to the hospital and he's not getting in the wheelchair. He's walking. He's alright. I told him if you can't make it back to the car im leaving him there. I'm not walking back to the car, going around the hospital and getting stuck in traffic.

I'm glad I don't drink or smoke because I think I'd smoke or drink myself to death. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Hi Beemer, I panicked this morning as had a coughing fit that made me feel like I was choking.Got some advise from district nurse and 111.My. mouth is dry and tongue cracked for months .I use artificial saliva and recently Oramorph prescribed for the coughing episodes.Sorted out increased dosage, to suck pastilles in the day.Cough worse since starting NIV a week ago but that might be a coincidence.
The sun is shining and grandchildren coming this afternoon so that should distract me from thinking about myself๐Ÿ˜‚.I agree distraction may help your situation..hope so.
    Best wishes
    Mary

So, you've had more than one panic attack? It can easily happen particularly if there's aperceived lack of air/fresh air and/or clothing (or a seatbelt) is tight across throat or chest.

Glad you found a coping strategy. xx

Yes, loss of control of the situation and the reliance on others stresses me out too.

    started a topic Panic attacks

    Panic attacks

A new concept for me, a panic attack.
The first time was last month whilst sat in the passenger seat of the car, seatbelt on in a supermarket car park, and my wife gone in to shop.
I came over very hot and uncomfortable, unable to undo the seatbelt I started to feel trapped and panicky.
I have since been advised to play music in this situation .
Working...
