    Yes, very sad. He talks of his privileged position in being able to end his life by coming off ventilator and having help of palliative care, but not the quicker and more peaceful way to go as at Dignitas he would have preferred. I am at least comforted that we do at least have this first choice, to refuse treatment. I saw a film about the mother of someone with Huntingdon's disease, which is a really horrible disease, who has been campaigning for the right to assisted dying. She was prosecuted and could have spent years in jail, for keeping her son company when he obtained lethal medication and took it. A contested question, though, with the fear that some people will come under pressure to end their own lives for one reason or another.
