    Another week away

I thought I would do a short review on the week away I had recently.
My wife took me to south Wales (Portcawl caravan park) where we hired an accessible caravan, and Premier accessible rooms.
The weather was hot, damn hot, so the wellies stayed in the car thankfully.
Premier access was its usual, clean and functional for wheelchairs, the staff very helpful, but I still found the bed too low.
The caravan spacious, and functional, but low beds too.
Overall a good week away although I missed the Gerberit
    Diagnosed 2nd Jan 2020
Both arms/shoulders affected, left worse than right.
    Progressive Muscular Atrophy suspected

Closer to home next week Ellie as I’m touring Scotland. Nine hotels and I will report on each as others may find it useful x.
I’m going to do this even if it kills me!

Hi Barry, glad you had a good break.I can’t help agreeing with you about missing your Geberit. In hospital I miss my bio bidet as I don’t have problems coping with constipation using it at home.
Now I am in hospital for this last week I am having suppositories an enema etc.Not much fun when I can’t walk to loo as need wheelchair.
Oh well hope to be home at weekend after RIG is done Thursday.
              Best wishes
              Mary

                Hi Mary,

It was Dave aka Beemer who was away last week. My turn next week.

Interesting to hear reviews. Glad you had a good time, Dave, and all the best Barry. Btw Dave, I have just asked for an "Easy going trails" booklet from Sheffield council, I don't know if you know that? Just progressing (or regressing) to walker with seat!
Diagnosed July 2020, ALS bulbar onset. PEG and ventilator (mainly at night), and pretty poor speech, but legs still about functioning!

I managed 5 days in a Cotswolds lodge last week, shower required imaginative use but was lovely to be in countryside, on a nature reserve essentially🙂
Barry, I am doing a 3 week Scottish tour in September, hope your trip goes well.

                        Thanks Olivia,

The UK has some wonderful scenery and we can reach it by car or bus but we have to take a chance with the weather.

I had a wonderful month-long holiday railing, hitch-hiking and catching ferries/boats around Scotland in my early 20s. Visited stunning highlands and islands, met lovely people, slept everywhere but hotels, even climbed Ben Nevis. Sure, it wasn't wall to wall sunshine and the midges were too plentiful in places but, despite holidaying in numerous countries on various continents, that Scottish holiday is in my top 3.

I had a honeymoon in the Trossachs and loved it. The road up the West Coast gives the best sea views you will ever see. 🤗😍😘😁xx
Bulbar started Jan 2020. Mute and 100% tube fed but mobile and undefeated. Stay Strong 🤗😘🤗😁xx

We are off next Tuesday for a short break to another seaside town that we might choose to live in. Fabulous to be able to go away almost evry montth!
Mum died with MND in 1979 – My sister and I have a wonky gene, probably inherited from mum. Reckon my MND started sometime in 2018.
