Ah yes, the lovely Eleanor (Pinkelle) had one and used to call it her 'sack truck' - I don't know if you remember her?
Will Steve be OK using it? xxDiagnosed 03/2007. Sporadic Definite ALS/MND Spinal (hand) Onset.

My OT isn’t replying to my texts. I have no idea why. But luckily I can still just about wobble around with my walker indoors. I was planning ahead as know that it won’t be long until I cannot walk. XALS diagnosed November 2017, limb onset. For the 4 yrs previously I was losing my balance.

Aw I remember lovely Eleanor (pink) and her "sack truck thingy " . It was a sara stedy turner.
I hope you get sorted soon Lynne because these things take time. I'm sure you don't need me to say take care with your walker. Thats how I broke my leg and then I couldn't use the turner because the padding for my leg was right where the break was.
I'm fortunate to still transfer sideways although Stuart lifts my feet and puts one hand in front in case I topple forwards. It sounds like he's got three hands which would be useful ! 🤣 we have a portable hoist for when I need it...its in our spare bedroom and I try not to look at it. My lgreat OT rang just for a chat this morning and offered to come out and show us how to use it again.
Hope you get sorted soon Lynne xxx😘🤗

That’s brilliant of your OT Debbie. I might suggest that to my OT when she comes around soon, so that I have a portable hoist ready for whenever. Thanks xALS diagnosed November 2017, limb onset. For the 4 yrs previously I was losing my balance.

My OT texted me today 4.30pm to say that she ordered urgently the Re-Turn platform thing and it ought to be here in 2 to 3 days.
I asked her about a mobile hoist so that it would be there when needed and I wouldn’t have to wait weeks for one. But she hasn’t replied yet. When we last discussed this she stated that they wouldn’t give one until it was needed and it has the be operated by 2 trained people. Oh no !..I just asked my OT for a walker as it's hard to carry more than one item from room to room!!! 😏Initial diagnosis 7-4-2021 'suspected MND' confirmed by 2nd opinion 4th June 2021 ALS. Began with R foot limp and lots of falls. NIV overnight. Generally weak. Mostly terrified.

Thats great about the platform thing Lynne! Result !
We were initially told it needed two people to operate a mobile hoist and carers aren't allowed do it on their own.
However when I went to the MND clinic they thought we would be able to manage it as I can operate the hand control. They said its important to have it before you need it , if you can store it , because it takes time to get used to it and its better if it's not an emergency.
Also if Stuart was poorly or had a bad back then carers from outside wouldn't be allowed to do the lifting he does so we'd be in a spot of bother without a hoist. Xx😘🤗
