We’ve decided for me to give a Power of Attorney to Steve and start on wills. Doing these could be expensive but I remember getting something from the MNDA about these 4 years ago. I don’t know what we did with them. Any suggestions? Thanks, Lynne xx

Dear Lynne,
Thank you for your inquiry regarding information about a Power of Attorney (POA).
You can contact the Office for the Public Guardian on 0300 456 0300 who can send an application form out to you. Alternatively you can download one from: https://www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney
The application form comes with a lot of pages of guidance on how to complete the form so I would suggest asking for a form to be posted out rather than downloading all the documentation.
You can ask a solicitor to help you complete the application, this costs around £800, but you can complete the form yourself, if you have any problems you can call the office of the public guardian helpline 0300 456 0300 and they should be able to answer your questions.
It costs around £82 to register the POA, if you choose to apply for both registrations, one for finances and one for health and welfare, it will be £164
We do have a free wills service, the link below will take you to the information on our website:
Free Wills Network A gift in your Will could help free the world from MND for future generations. I hope this answers your question Lynne, but if you would like more information then please let me know.

i was told by the dementia nurse that i can contact the altzeimers society and they will do the medical power of attorney over the phone and help you through it. and you dont have dementia they will just help you and send the form off for you. you will not pay for this service whereas a solicitor will charge you.
need to look on the office of the public guardian website because i am sure certain people in receipt of benefit dont have to pay the full price but to be honest it was a while ago i looked so this might need looking into. i do need to do the medical power of attorney because i have already done the financial version.
when i can think of something profound i will update this.
