I take the senna at bedtime, ~11pm, along with a softener (Docusate Sodium), and it works the next morning/mid-morning, for me anyway.

I get really fed up and my appetite plummets if I'm constipated, so I can identify with what you said. It doesn't take much to mess up my bowel regimen, so I still find myself constipated every few months...

Tell him we all say that prevention is better than the cure 😍 so don't let it become chronic. xx

Constipation has become a regular occurrence for me every 7/10 days or so. So far I have only needed Docusate softener which I take when I sense trouble brewing. It takes a day or 2 to work and then sometimes feels what I imagine giving birth is like
Diagnosed June 2019. Bulbar palsy. Lost voice. Using PEG fitted April 2021 alongside eating normally albeit slowly and messily at times.

      • I eat far less than previously being bed bound. I am mindful to maintain hydration. Consequently bowel movements are little, often and soft. I don't take laxatives at all.

I have noted that when I think I have a covid infection, I do have movement problems. (But what do I know?)

I still haven’t found the magic formula 😫. It’s been worse since starting on the morphine. Going to try chick pea curry tonight! 🤪

Morphine is a double edged sword. Great for pain relief but bungs you up. 😓😁🤗😍xx

It’s a low dose to help with breathing difficulties. Fortunately no pain.

Thanks for the advice on time.

Spoke to Hubs, he is prepared to try it in the evenings

And will report back for information and the science.

As I said to the Family support lady, here's hoping for a "****" week as aposed to a "NO ****" week.

From personal experience it truely is agony, it was unfortunate that the black coffee stopped working.

And the curry Dal stopped working too.

A few years ago, I put diluted hot sauce down my tube - it worked 👍👍 I was desperate, that was before Docusate came into my life...

Just looked at my comment. Interesting that in a thread about Bowels we can't use the four letter word for Poo.

                          Hopfully Poo is allowed.

                          Hot sauce sounds awesome

Easier to spell than fecaes, (no) feecas, (nope) feaces, (not that one either) faeces (yup, that one) 😏

When I was a nurse I woud put loose stools as I could never remember how to spell Diarrhoea,

which doesn't look right. When searched there was a few spellings.

Phoned the GP to ask for an official Bowel Regime, see what they come up with. To prevent instead of react.
