    Bladder problems.

Has any one been diagnosed with Neurogenic bladder or is anyone aware of this condition.
I have had real concerns re my husband “preoccupation” with going to the toilet to urinate extremely frequently particularly at night. He has had no UTI and has had a bladder scan which did not show any abnormality.
I came across the diagnosis of Neurogenic Bladder which is very common with most neurological disorders.
Our MND nurse informed us MND does not cause bladder problems. No G P or bladder nurse mentioned anything about Neurogenic bladder condition, but the symptoms are identical to this.
My husband has been prescribed Tolterodine which is given for frequent and urgency in urinating which is often given for the Neurogenic bladder condition.
I find it very hard that no professional has never mentioned this condition and every one has been thinking it was probably due his behaviour. (Has some cognitive deficits).
I just thought I’d ask if any one on the forum has heard of it.

That's a rather outdated theory and my Neurologist, amongst others, would disagree with that statement (which still appears in multiple information sheets on MNDs). Lower urinary tract symptoms affect a signification minority of people with MNDs, including neurogenic bladder,

Similarly, many info sheets say that the bowels remain unaffected and, notwithstanding the constipation which torments many of us as a 'side effect' of MND, the sphincter muscle itself can be affected.

Hopefully those tablets will ease your husband's symptoms. xx

Ah right. I thought it was a Eureka moment when I read about the Neurogenic bladder.
Well, what ever he has the Tolterodine medication has been successful after three days. I had a complete eight hours sleep last night. No shouting my name, no getting up 3-4 times for him to pass a thimble amount of urine. I couldn’t believe it. It seems to have relaxed any spasms that he had. Fingers crossed for tonight though.xx

I certainly was affected badly re urinary issues. I was 50 when it started and I had no issues pre diagnosis. My incontinence nurse said its very common in mnd.
