Exciting news re the new voice banking. I'm useless with tagging threads etc but Google i will still be me mnd.

Basically you read a 20 minute book using microphone and speak unique turn it into your real voice. Believe rolls Royce are funding the mnda re rolling it out.

It is. My voice is not great but I believe that speak unique have a rescue service that attempts to repair your voice.

could you give a bit more detail how MNDA authorise the payment, reading the blurb , we read it, it’s saved and you authorise it, how do you know we have MND, and reside in the UK , are doctors letters required or other proof of diagnosis

Shaun I emailed mnd association and you go on the i will still be me site. You set up a login criteria then record your voice. There then is a page for submitting re being financed by mnda. Are you registered with mnda?

Hi Shaun

Once you finish the story, the recording is uploaded and transformed into a digital voice by SpeakUnique which can then be used with communication devices when needed.

At the moment although the website is available globally, the voice banking experience of recording the book and sending it to be made into a digital voice is available only to those in the UK, where we, the MND Association, are able to provide funding to those diagnosed with MND. You will receive links for details on the funding that we provide via email on completion of the voice banking process.

The funding is for people with MND living in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, thanks to donations from Dell Technologies and Intel. The free service also extends to people living with MND in Scotland, with funding provided by MND Scotland. If you do not qualify, you will have the option to pay for the £200 digital voice service cost yourself. As for your question around providing proof of diagnosis, we check details using the MND register, so as long as you are registered on that, you will qualify for funding.

Hi. I have tried to record my husbands voice on the above but said my microphone was not strong enough. Does anyone know what type of microphone I need for a I pad. Has anyone succeeded recording your voice on “I will still be me”.x

You need a headset with microphone. Think its noise reduction. I donated one to the association so maybe contact communications at the association as I loaned one last year from them.

I will be doing mine over the weekend I hope x
