Common cold

Hi all. So I've picked up a cold frommy partner. Runny nose, joint ache etc. Now I know that the usual re staying hydrated and paracetamol etc.

Is there anything else people can suggest as I'm starting to produce the barking cough and my cough is weak.

I have got a nebulizer and will this help? Any hints and tips appreciated.

I can only say I've also got a cold. Runny nose, sneezing and aching. I suspect my daughter of sharing. 🤒

You could do without that Shelly...

Coughing exhausts me so, if needed, I take a cough suppressant, a cough syrup for dry coughs containing dextromethorphan *but* you need to check with your pharmacist to see if you can take it, e.g., it cannot be taken if you take SSRIs. The pharmacist can recommend something, I'm sure.

I find the ned good for adding moisture to my throat too and use Vicks Vaporub rub too - the whole kit and caboodle!

Ellie thank you. I'm on amitryipline so i don't think i can take much in the way of cough meds. I will up my new use.

I love olbas oil and just put some in my foot spa lol. Breathed in the fumes.
I know we have to be careful re chest infections. My breathing is ok but its clearing the gunk that isn't. X

denise i have my partner to blame. But he his barking like a dog.

We have been so careful but we have managed over 12 months cold free.

My daughter is a school teacher and always worried about bringing things to us we don't want but not seeing her is upsetting so we would rather take the risk. 🤔

I picked up a cold from my granddaughter, which really got to my chest and floored me. I have a cough assist machine but hadn’t been using it regularly because it seemed to unnecessarily stress my throat. Trying to practice it now. Horrible when your phlegm gets stuck in your throat and you can’t breathe. Have you got a chest infection and need antibiotics? Hope it passes quickly which mine has finally done x

I've just looked up tree pollen. February through to mid March there's a lot of pollen about hazel, yew and birch. Eucalyptus pollen used to make me ill. Not good when suffering from asthma.

I don't think its a chest infection but I often end up with one after a cold. I will keep an eye on it. I'm using my nebuliser lots x

Heather R i only got mine last week. Its supposed to break thick mucus down. My respiratory consultant sent it. X
