    The male body and mnd?

Ok so I'm embarrassed and I know I shouldn't be but unless I ask then I don't know if this is normal.

A problem in trying to locate a penis when he wants to pee. He actually couldn't find it and he was in a public toilet asking a guy to help. Imagine how that could have played out! I had to go and rescue him and solve the problem.

Also when it comes to fitting condom catheters/Conveen it's difficult to fit our keep it attached if the penis disappears.

I really don't know what is normal after 40 years of marriage and say an older male or is this another Mnd thing?

I can’t comment as I’m the opposite I want mine to disappear half the time , I hope it’s not mnd as couldn’t cope with that aswell, I hope he finds it or why it’s happening

What I can say is if he’s led down when fitting catheter or condom, that won’t help get him sat up maybe easier

It's not so much fitting it. It seems to happen when hes asleep. 😐

              denise

I posted about this yesterday. The size seems to vary drastically each day. We don't use convateen but I can see why it would be a problem.

We have friendly joked together, that I never noticed the variety of sizes. Thomas has been asking me to ask,
if "shrinkage" was a side effect for the last year.

But it goes back to "normal" relaxed size at other times.

As a nurse my experience nursing older men, there was some retreating noticed. Maybe from age or illness. Probably for "protection".

Which made using Covateen difficult as it did pop off.
The length is still there but in the body.

But as Thomas said I am only 58.

Sometimes it is difficult to get enough length into the urinal bottle.

              So no solutions, just solidarity.

Although you could ask for a refferal to the continence team if they have one.

I might have to do that because I've had to resort to nappies again and I dont know if they can be got on prescription so its getting expensive.

I noticed your post yesterday, Donna, and that's what made me think I need to stop being embarrassed and ask.

                😳

denise Let’s get it out in the open. Mine has definitely retreated. This is the first time I’ve mentioned it, but I’d say it’s MND related. 🤪

                    Oh Peter thank you.😘

I honestly thought Male pride would stop you guys answering.

I think I will stop these condom style products and stick with nappies.

Has anyone found a user friendly bottle because I'm thinking there might be a time when I cant get into the mens loo.

                    🙂

denise Nappies can be supplied by the nhs after an assessment by district nurses, who can be very helpful on this topic.

Big hug - you're having to cope with a hell of a lot at the moment.

My husbands has also "changed". An incontinence nurse reviewed him as I was really struggling with getting a conveen to stay on. As you describe the "penis disappears" even if "normal" when fitting the conveen. I have to firkle about to find it for a wee when it was always "there" before.

The incontinence nurses suggested a retracted penis pouch. This fits around the penis rather than on it. (if that makes sense). Apparently they are expensive so not offered unless a last resort. We have the Hollister brand if you want to research.

We only use them if we are going out as toileting is a problem, and now that I am used to fitting, and using the extra tape that cones in each pack we have success more often than not.

I do agree with the earlier comment about even after being together over 30 years I still don't really understand the male body.
