    Happy after a medical appointment

I went to the Lane Fox Respiratory unit at St Thomas’s in London yesterday. My breathing issues started in January this year. I was so pleased they actively encouraged me to travel as I was worried they would not allow me to fly - I want a family holiday in the sun in the summer
    Diagnosed 17/2/22
summer 2020 - Left arm onset
Jan 2022 - breathing now affected

No idea yet as I had every intention of booking a sunny holiday yesterday but was so tired after the hospital trip it really took it out of me

To go anywhere sunny for a couple of weeks would be bliss. Don’t know if I could face an airport anymore.

Travel does take its toll Chelle, but it tends to be worth the effort and stress 👍

When the whole airport assistance and flying palaver got too much for me (and my family...), we travelled by ferry, which was much more relaxing, although it did limit us to holidaying in France or (northern) Spain. xx

Chelle73 . Thats great news ! Go for it ! I find at clinic they encourage us to keep travelling.

I can't weight bear at all or move my legs so use a powerchair... My breathing is ok, however. We are in Spain atm but have the luxury of being able to stay a few weeks and I have mobility equipment here. I find airport days tiring and stressful but worth it . Its worse for my hubby who has me to worry about and bags etc. I have found the special assistance at the airports to be fantastic although you do have to book ahead with your requirements.

In the airport you are taken to the front at security ( yes I have heard people tutting🤨 !) and I am lifted from my chair to an aisle wheelchair and the plane seat. You are entitled to free seats by the ambulift and free bags for medication and wheelchair chargers. You can take two mobility aids for free one of which can be electric.

I think we both feel a little vulnerable when we arrive as we haven't the same network of support here but a g and t in the sun helps.
              Love Debbiexx😘🤗
