My stair lift has arrived 😊

Yesterday was a good day, after my fall down the stairs, getting up to bed has felt like an impossible task and it has taken a joint effort between me, my husband and son to get me there. All that changed last night as I was able to take myself up. I was so lucky to have help from an MNDA grant to buy it and I am so grateful for that.

since the fall, it has been a roller coaster, though I have had some good days, it seems the local hospital missed a scaphoid fracture in my left hand so now I am waiting to find out what the plan is for that (my eldest son sent me to Addenbrooks to get it checked when I saw him this week) and I have done damage to the muscles around the shoulder blade that is going to take aa good while to heal. A new physio came to see me yesterday and he was amazing and I finally got some help to help manage the pain and to help with the other issues I have been having with my dodgy leg and foot.

I always try to stay positive but I have to admit it’s been hard at times, so much has changed and I hate the fact that my husband has to do so much for me since I fell, especially when I can see how tired he is getting.

Great news re the stair lift Karen, it will give you invaluable peace of mind.

A mixed bag of your other news: boo hiss for your local hospital, yippee for the Physiotherapist.

I believe those fractures can be painful - did Addenbrookes not immobilise your wrist? xx

Karen so glad you’ve got a safer and easier way upstairs, but so sorry to hear the really hard time you have had, and still not fully resolved. 🀞for good recovery and relief from pain xx

Ellie Thank you, the stair lift has already made such a difference to me and my husband who now don’t have to push and support me up the stairs. Addenbrooks did immobilise my hand with a brace and yes scaphoid fractures are painful πŸ˜“. Hoping it doesn’t need resetting because they will means weeks more in a caste.

it has been tough but finally I feel like things are looking up a bit.

My daughter broke hers 3 years ago when she came off her horse - it healed well in a brace, mind you, it was caught immediately on the X-ray (she also dislocated her thumb 😬) Hopefully yours won't need resetting 🀞🀞😘

Karen62 so pleased you have your stair lift in place now. Ours has been invaluable. My husband could not get up the stairs at all now and there is no way I could help him. I’m 5ft he’s 6ft!!

So glad for you that you’ve got your stairlift. I had mine installed well before I felt I needed it but once in I had to use it because they had to remove a stair rail. Haven’t regretted it. Saves a lot of energy and removes a serious risk.

Karen62 sounds like a very tough time but the stairlift will help keep you safer. Hope your fracture heals quickly x
