I also have the problem with phlegm at the back of my throat. I usually have a cup of hot water with honey and lemon, first thing. I had it before I had my NIV machine. I will try pineapple juice. Morning or the night before ?

Do you use a humidifier with your NIV? It can also help if your mouth or throat is nice and moist and your head and neck are in a good position for swallowing. xxDiagnosed 03/2007. Sporadic Definite ALS/MND Spinal (hand) Onset.

Yes, I do use the humidifier. I have been using the NIV about eight weeks. Just on a low setting. Over the last few weeks, I have got into a routine of being able to sleep through to morning. Or waking about two then until after eight.,Which is bizarre because before, I had woken up in the night for a trip to the loo, for years and years. Of course that’s ok when your fit and mobile. So a big help to hubby . So hope 200ml of juice won’t through it all out. But will give it a go. Thanks

As for the virgin Pina Colada, it will almost certainly contain pineapple juice, so it's a win-win for you Madge. xxDiagnosed 03/2007. Sporadic Definite ALS/MND Spinal (hand) Onset.
