It's HOT HOT HOT here in Suffolk, how are you copping with the heat?

Just worried how others are coping.

At the moment my lounge is 26.5 and outside in the shade is 34.5 deg C

I know Cc had temperatures exceeding 46 a few days ago.

I'm OK and quite comfortable with fans.

I guess other houses and places are a lot hotter.

Try to keep calm and fairly cool.

    Love Terry

And drink lots of water - that's when feeding tubes are really handy!!

If people who usually only use NIV at night but feel breathing more tiring in the heat, using the NIV for an hour or so during the day should help.

I have a fridge-cold tea towel behind my back in the wheelchair, am barefoot and socks are in the fridge for later No swollen feet !!

Now, if I can just stop the dog licking my toes, ugh...

    Love Ellie.

Hi Terry, I hope your staying calm and cool in this kind of heat.

Its been brutal for us I guess it came your way now.

We had some very severe thunderstorms that caused trees to come down, and knocked out power in a lot of towns, but not my thank goodness. This did help to cool things down a little though, but now people don't have power, therefore don't have air conditioning. A friend of mine lost power, and went to sleep in a hotel in a town that still has power just so she could have air conditioning to sleep in'

Hope it won't last long, keep cool

        Hi Ellie;

Do your soaks taint the taste of your cheese in the fridge. Guess your feet must be tasty to the dog. I have bare paws as well. Thanks for the tips, it's nice to have a coolish back in chairs.

Cc, we had a two hour thunder storm here from 3 am but only a little rain so it just made things humid. The weekend should be cooler.

Yes Terry, that’s what always makes it unbearable is the humidity. Our temperatures reach into the high 90’s and can crack 100 degrees, but add the humidity factor in, and we soar into 110 to 120 degrees, and the air becomes so stifling we can only be inside in air conditioning or in the pool. Fans don’t cut it, they only blow hot air around.

July, and August are our most brutal heat months, so we still unfortunately have at least another month of this to go

We have ceiling fans in every room. Couldn’t survive without them here.

Husband, Nigel, diagnosed with ALS in July 2019. We live in Spain and the medical care is superb. Nigel currently taking Riluzole. Tried acupuncture/Chinese medicine and bee venom (privately), but not helpful. Had stem cell therapy 6 months ago, but no improvement so far.

Not a great day yesterday but I am blaming the heat. I picked up my scooter which was in for puncture repair and when I got home one tyre was still flat with a visible large thorn in it. I then proceeded to drop a dozen eggs on my doorstep, breaking 8 and by the time I got back with some hot water they were cooked. If you didn’t laugh you would cry. I did both.

I'm just happy it was broken eggs rather than a broken Barry (again...)

                Hope you're healing well.

                  I am impressed that you are out and about, Barry;

Bugger about the tyre, you can get stuff that repairs punctures as they happen put in.

No good crying over spilt milk or broken eggs as long as you're OK. One thing about all you northerners scrubbing your door steps every day, you haven't wasted the eggs.

Yesterday was pretty hot here, over 35 outside in the shade and nearly 28 indoors. WE had a thunder storm at 8pm, again very little rain. Went to bed after midnight, 27 inside, 24.5 out.

Looks cooler today, wife's just gone out running, just under 30 degs.

Terry your Celsius temperatures make me want to turn up the heat and bundle up with hat and gloves before going outside lol

I googled and put it on the conversion scale to Fahrenheit, you're very hot there too. Maybe related to global warming ??

Our thunderstorms broke the heat wave now we just in the 90's !

I hope your wife manages to keeps cool and hydrated on her run in the heat.

                        Hi Barry,

I hope the eggs were cooked the way you like them - although in all that eggseedingly hot sunshine yesterday, they were probably cooked 'sunny-side up'! LOL

I am eggstremely relieved that it was only the eggs that were broken - you are an eggstra special person Barry, who always eggsells in being thoughtful, kind and caring. Thank you for generously sharing your eggsperiences, as well as regularly helping us with your eggstensive knowledge and eggsemplary advice.

With all that eggsitement yesterday, please take clucky-mother-hen Kayleigh's advice to look after yourself and not over-eggsert yourself with any eggsessive eggsercise.

Perhaps have a relaxing day today and treat yourself to something eggstravagant to eat - smoked salmon and scrambled eggs might be an eggsellent choice?

As many as 8 eggs were broken? - are you sure you are not eggsaggerating? Did you eggsamine them all properly to make sure no eggs were eggscluded by mistake? - do you think any discarded eggs can be eggstracted or eggscavated from your compost heap? ... and its definitely worth checking if any eggshumed eggs are past their eggspiry date, as the shop will probably eggschange them!

Only yoking Barry! - but please eggscuse and eggsonerate me for possibly being too eggsessive with the questions - I don't want you to think I am cross-eggsamining you! Even taking into account any eggseptional circumstances, I will understand if you think I should be eggsiled or eggspelled from the forum - for over-egging the pudding and eggseeding my quota of eggstraordinary eggy words!

Maybe I should make an eggsecutive decision to make a quick eggsit - and perhaps I'll become an eggs-pat in eggsclusive MontenEggro!

                        Love Kayleigh x

P.S Happy Fri-edegg-day - and I hope you and your wife have an eggstremely eggsellent weekend!

I find it good that many of us can resort to humour in our difficult situation. We need laughter every day.

Wishing everyone a stress free weekend.

                          Love,

                              Thank you Barry and Lynne,

MND does everything in its power to try and make me miserable and fed up - but I quickly kick its butt when it tries to snatch my sense of humour away!!
