The research seeks to understand the mobility needs of people on a mobility allowance, received through DWP. The findings will help Motability, the charity, understand why some people who get a mobility allowance choose not to join the Motability Scheme and will help them in their oversight of the Scheme to make sure it meets people’s mobility needs.
Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) are looking for participants who are currently receiving a mobility allowance but do not use the Motability Scheme, or parents, appointees are carers for someone who receives a mobility allowance (who do not use the scheme). The research entails filling in a 15-minute survey, for which participants can enter a prize draw to win £100 Amazon vouchers if they choose.
There will also be focus groups in January to understand in more depth how the Scheme might be adapted to meet a wider range of people’s mobility needs. People will be compensated with £25 Amazon vouchers for this if they indicate on the survey that they would be interested and if they meet criteria for the groups.
