What other benifits can I claim on top of the pip special payment. And how do I apply. I have not worked since last November with no money coming in we are struggling now. Thankfully the mnd cost of liveing grant has really got us out the s... For the time being.
But some advise on further benefits and how to apply woukd be so helpful..
    Thanks Geoff

My partner just gets the PIP at the moment, but was also told he could claim the ESA once he finished work. He claimed the PIP under the special rules, I had to phone (he’s unable to speak), they asked a few questions & then the MND coordinator filled out the forms & sent them direct. His claim was pretty straightforward & the payments started within a couple of weeks.

My civil service job agreed to pay my pension(s) early due to the medical retirement (I was 57 at the time).
I got ESA until the pensions kicked in.
I got PIP quite soon after diagnosis due to my MND nurse being prompt with the DS1500.

Thank wheels of steel.. My consultant has signed a DS1500 and I contacted pip who said they fast track payments. How do I apply for ESA? and do I need to wait for my pip payments to start before I apply for ESA...
            Thanks for your help.. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™β€οΈπŸ™

Geoff I was lucky in that I had a civil service job, and they prompted me to claim ESA.
I did get a letter saying that when my Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) came to an end they gave me a "Form SSP1" which enabled me to claim ESA.
Not sure how it may work for others.
As suggested above - the gov.uk website is your best starting point.
                Best of luck with it.

                      Hi Geoff

I don't know what line of work you were in but you could check out https://www.turn2Us.org.uk for benefit advice but also a grant search. You can use the filters (just have a play around with it) for age, health, religion etc. There are many charities out there that can help. I know because I have used it. You may be able to get a short break funded, white goods, regular income or one off grants etc. I used to work in aviation and printing so have tapped into the benevolent funds of those trades. I'm a carer for my other half for 15 years or so now so it's been a great help. If you belonged to a trade union they may be able to help you too. Good luck.
