Covid-19 immunisation programme and people living with MND

With the news that the first COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for use in the UK, the Government is now undertaking a comprehensive roll out programme due to begin in the middle of December.

A priority list for immunisation has been developed by the Government’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, although the Government has indicated this may change, depending on the availability of vaccines over the coming weeks and months.

Read more about the Governments plans here - https://www.mndassociation.org/about...ople-with-mnd/
Our working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am until 5pm

Hello Admin, can you just clarify about registering as CEV , if I and I guess most of us here, keep getting letters from the Government and council telling us we are CEV we don’t have to do anything, but just wait to be called forward, as we are already registered, or do we have to re-register?

There have also been new recently diagnosed people who may not have registered during the first lockdown in March,
If there are new members to our club you can register via
Guidance for people aged 12 and over whose immune system means they are at higher risk of serious illness if they become infected with coronavirus (COVID-19).

    happy jabbing everyone

I'm pretty sure I've never registered but have been getting letters, one today even, telling me that I'm clinically extremely vulnerable all through the year. I think it's because of my COPD rather than MND. This suggests to me that we don't need to do anything if in receipt of these letters. Looks like I'll be wave 4 and my wife as carer will be wave 6.

Surely they won’t differentiate between the vulnerable and their carer. If the carer gets Covid then the patient is helpless!

                Hi Barry
they do differentiate, your carers and family will be in which ever ‘wave’ their personal circumstances put them in ,
no queue jumping , we are British 😄

While I agree with your point, Barry52 that's the way it looks to me at the moment. They are probably thinking that someone else could care for us. 🙄

                    Barry, Gary,
you have think about that YOU are being protected ahead of those that aren’t vulnerable, it’s going to take months to get everyone done. Where do you draw the line: spouse, children, grandchildren, brother, sister, then their partners, the neighbour that does the odd job, the list goes on. At least this way those most vulnerable across the board receive it first and those statistically less in danger follow on.

Really it’s no different to where we currently are, your carers are still at risk, as they have been for the last year.
for info I’m in wave 4, and still working, at least when I go back to the office in March I will be at less risk assuming I’m jabbed before then

                    • Having had covid-19 twice now, I am wondering what is the best way forward. The fact that I have a team of 8 part time carers in a third tier location gave me a sense of inevitability about the whole thing.

I have had the persistent pneumonia yet again but this time I was given stronger antibiotics in the first instance. This time it made me vomit and gave me the covid-19 rash.

What I have struggled to get answers to: -

How long does each infection last?

Is it a better policy for those of us that survive covid-19 not to have the vaccination in order to build up tolerance, as it looks like the vaccination won't last long and I can't be being vaccinated every 6 months against a disease that I survive pretty comfortably?
